We finished the pilgrim presentations today (with the exception of the Skipper and the Pardoner–the students who covered these characters were absent).  In pairs, students looked at selected discussion questions following The Prologue and presented their answers to the rest of the class.  We began an assignment in pairs at the end of class; we’ll continue working on the assignment tomorrow.

The assignment is to create a modern day prologue similar to Chaucer’s.  Students will create at least five “character types” found in modern society and describe each character’s personality, actions, appearance, and so on.  Students should attempt to use iambic pentameter and rhyming couplets.

A test on The Prologue and The Pardoner’s Tale will be given on Thursday.
